LECTURES

• Week 8 - Lecture 8 (23.05.2023)

There's no class in this week, but we need to start task 3 and compelet task 1-task 2. And Mr.vinod gave us the feedback of the 5 final options for task 3.

• Week 9 - Lecture 9 (30.05.2023

In this class we just need to improve font lines and make fonts more natural.

• Week 10 - Lecture 10 (06.06.2023)

In this calss , Mr. vinods let us go throw with the font design.

• Week 11 - Lecture 11 (13.06.2023)

This week, we watched others e-portfolio and then gave the advice. Then Mr. vinods showed us how to put the font into fontlab and told us the homework for next week.

• Week 12 - Lecture 12 (20.06.2023)

This week we need to complete the Task 3 and prepare for the Final Blog, that's so exciting! And Mr. vinod introduced how to do Task 3 and Final Blog.

• This is the dissection of font 'R' , we can see with the top that's serif/capline
• At the middle there are counter/ stem/meanline/bar
• For the middle of the bottom there are x-height
• With the bottom are leg and baseline
• And the bottom with the top are cap height

So with all of the elements combine with one fonts.

TASK 3:  Type Design & Communication 

First we needs to doing the 5 options of fonts.👇

Then with the 5 options, choose one that you prefer. I choose 1st one which i think is the best one, and keep going with the final options.

So then i finished the final 5 options.  👆

For the final 5 options i needs to choose the best font from each of then to create it on AI.

So then i create it on AI with some shapes and it looks pretty good .

After that i combine the line together and then i gave them the outline , so that i can take it into FontLab.

After that, Mr. vinods let us doing a poster for our Font on AI which needs A4 size post and the same size fonts on the poster.

But for Mr.vinods feedback, he said the space is so empty so i change the font space let them more full.

After that, we need to put the font out of the FontLab with Code. So i'm using the Visual Studio Code to make it happen. And i put it on Blog!

Week 8: Independent Learning Week-No feedback.

Week 9 Specificl feedback: Keeping going with 5 options.

Week 10 General feedback: Need to change something with the design. Specific feedback:With letter "a",create line and circle to catch it and then can go throw with p,y,m,n and so on.

Week 11 General feedback: Needs to change lot of from blog task 2.

Specific feedback: The title font should be same and the line with paragphy should be same too.

Week 12 General feedback: The background of poster.

Specific feedback: Background so empty, need to full of the poster.

                                                                         

Reflection

Experience

I gained a lot from designing my own fonts this time, which made me understand how to design fonts, and let me know some ways to design fonts. This homework brought me a lot of harvest, let me progress.

Observation

By analyzing the font and observing where each font needs to be on the line, I observed that the change of the font will also change with the change of the line, and the distance will also change greatly.

Findings

I found that when you want to make a font, you must be very careful, if you do any step wrong will lead to the final font is very ugly. And each font must unify the elements in order to look harmonious. Every Angle and size should be the same to make it look more comfortable.
